All-on-4 Dental Implants

Do you suffer from extensive tooth loss but have been told you do not qualify for dental implants due to jawbone atrophy?

Using the All-on-4® method, patients with low jawbone density can experience the benefits of dental implants.

Learn how Dr. Kam Mohager in Littleton, CO, can restore your oral function with All-on-4 dental implants.

What Are All-on-4 Dental Implants?

All-on-4 is a technique to replace a full arch of missing teeth. A dentist places four strategically angled dental implants at optimal points along the dental arch. This helps many patients with bone atrophy qualify for dental implants.

When patients receive traditional dental implants, they often have to undergo bone grafting to replenish lost bone tissue and create a sound foundation for the implants. Because dentists place All-on-4 implants at an angle, contact with the existing bone tissue is maximized, which allows many patients who have suffered bone atrophy to qualify for treatment regardless.

Dental implants are the only restorative dentistry procedure that can stop and prevent bone atrophy to keep your jawbone healthy.

Your dentist will place four implants along your upper or lower dental arch. The two posterior posts are placed at a 45-degree angle to maximize use of your existing bone material.

Concerned About Costs? We're Here to Help

Dentist talking to patient about dentures

While our Littleton dental practice does accept most dental insurance plans, the majority do not cover dental implants. However, they often cover restorations, including dentures. We will verify coverage before your treatment begins.

To help cover costs not covered by insurance and to help those without insurance, our dentist accepts CareCredit®, which allows patients to finance their treatment in affordable monthly payments. We also accept American Express, Cash, Check, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa.

The All-on-4 Treatment Timeline

The All-on-4 method allows more patients than ever to enjoy the benefits of a restored smile with dental implants.

Consultation

During your initial consultation at our Littleton dental practice, your dentist will examine your mouth to determine if All-on-4 implants are the right choice for you.

Preparatory Treatment

While patients with mild to moderate bone atrophy can proceed with implant placement using the All-on-4 technique, some patients will require preparatory treatment like bone grafting. If you need preparatory bone grafting, periodontal treatment, or tooth extraction, this must be done before implant placement.

Local Anesthetic

Your dentist will begin the implant procedure by numbing the area with a local anesthetic. This ensures you are completely comfortable during your dental implant placement.

Implant Placement

Once you are thoroughly numbed, Dr. Mohager will begin by making small incisions in the gums to access the jawbone. Four implants are then surgically inserted into the jaw to begin your full arch restoration.

Healing

Over the course of about three months, your jaw will be given time to heal. This also allows the implants to fuse to the jaw in a process called osseointegration. We will provide a temporary denture for you to use during this time.

Impressions

Once you are healed, we'll take impressions of your mouth. These will be used by a trusted dental lab to craft your custom denture.

Abutment Placement

Next, abutments will be attached to the implants. These abutments allow your dentures to be secured firmly to the implants.

Denture Placement

Once your custom denture has arrived from the lab, your dentist will secure it to your implants. Implant-supported dentures are fixed in place and can be treated just like natural teeth. All you have left to do is enjoy your new smile!

All-on-4 Frequently Asked Questions

How do I care for my All-on-4 implants?

You can treat your new All-on-4 denture just like regular teeth. Practice good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing your teeth twice a day, and be sure to visit our Littleton dentist for regular checkups and cleanings.

How long will my All-on-4 implants last?

With proper care and maintenance, dental implants can last a lifetime. However, it is important to remember that your dentures will wear over time and will eventually need replacing. If you maintain good oral hygiene and habits, your dentures can last 15 years or longer.

Does implant placement hurt?

You will be thoroughly numbed before your implants are placed so you do not feel any pain during placement. Minor discomfort is to be expected as you heal, but most people are able to maintain comfort at home with over-the-counter medications, ice, and a soft diet.
