What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are small titanium posts that anchor into the jawbone to replace missing natural tooth roots. They provide unmatched stability for restorations like crowns, bridges, and dentures.

The Benefits of Dental Implants

From difficulty chewing to decreased confidence in the way you look, tooth loss can affect so many aspects of your daily life. Thankfully, dental implants are the ultimate solution for missing teeth. Treatment can help you:

Restore Your Appearance

Missing teeth can make it feel like others judge you based on the look of your smile rather than your best qualities. Dental implants can support crowns, bridges, or dentures to fill in the gaps. You'll have a complete set of teeth that you'll feel proud to show off.

Improve Your Oral Function

Tooth loss can turn meals into stressful experiences. You may even avoid your favorite foods for fear of discomfort when chewing. Because implants are secured in the jawbone, the restorations they support are just as stable and functional as natural teeth. Dental implant treatment can help you eat without restrictions and enjoy all your favorites once again.

Prevent Jawbone Loss

Your tooth roots provide stimulation that keeps your jawbone healthy and strong. Without that stimulation, your bone tissue will begin to deteriorate, which can lead to further tooth loss and other oral health issues. Dental implants mimic the function of tooth roots to provide stimulation and prevent bone loss. They are the only tooth replacement treatment that offers this benefit.

The Dental Implant Timeline

We can transform the way your smile looks and feels with implants and lifelike crowns, bridges, or dentures.

Day of Procedure

We can transform the way your smile looks and feels with implants and lifelike crowns, bridges, or dentures.

Local Anesthesia

Before beginning surgery, your dentist will thoroughly numb the treatment area with local anesthesia to ensure your comfort.

Implant Placement

Your dentist will make small incisions in your gums to provide access to your jawbone. Your implants will be securely anchored in your jaw tissue. We can provide temporary restorations for you to wear during the healing process.

First Healing Period

It takes about four to six months to heal after implant placement. During this period, your implants will fuse with your jawbone in a process called osseointegration.

Abutment Placement

Once you have healed, your dentist will attach abutments to your implants. Abutments connect implants to restorations.

Second Healing Period

It will only take around two weeks for your gums to heal after abutment placement surgery.

Restoration Placement

You will return to our office in Littleton so your dentist can attach your custom crowns, bridges, or dentures to your implants. After he checks that they fit comfortably and look just like natural teeth, you'll be free to leave and go enjoy life with your newly restored smile.

Are Implants Covered by Insurance?

Your dental insurance provider will likely offer at least partial coverage for your implant-supported crowns, bridges, or dentures. However, your implants will probably not be covered.

We accept most dental insurance plans, and our team will gladly work with your provider to help maximize your coverage.

Additional Options for Payment

If you are uninsured or have high out-of-pocket costs, it doesn't mean you can't enjoy the benefits of treatment with implants at our practice in Littleton.

We accept cash and check payments as well as most major credit cards, including American Express®, Visa, Discover®, and MasterCard®. We also accept financing through CareCredit®, which offers loans with little or no interest and flexible monthly repayment plans.

My visit with Dr. Kam was very pleasant. His office was inviting, calming, and the view of the mountains from the dentist chair was awesome! All his equipment was new and clean. I’m always very anxious when it comes to dentist visits but Dr. Kam was so down to earth and easy to have a laugh with which helped me out a lot. He took a look at my teeth and was very gentle the whole time and always told me exactly what he was about to do next so I was never caught off guard. He is really cool and nice I would highly recommend him.
